What is Love? (according to kids….)

‘When my grandmother got arthritis , she couldn’t bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time , even when his hands got arthritis too. That’s love..’

Rebecca- age 8

‘When someone loves you , the way they say your name is different.
You just know that your name is safe in their mouth..’

You don’t see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night.’

‘I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.’

Lauren - age 4

‘When you love somebody , your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.’ (what an image)

Karen - age 7

‘Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn’t think it’s gross.’

Mark - age 6

‘You really shouldn’t say ‘I love you’ unless you mean it. But if you mean it , you should say it a lot. People forget..’

They say a good marriage is one where both people think they’re the lucky one (something I learned on my walk to work).
I like that.

2009 - A recap

Another decade is over. Blown right past me. This decade has somewhat more of a significance for me because I became an adult…..the freewheelin’, carefree years of my late teens/early adulthood morphed and evolved into Yasmin the Adult. Oof.

I had some serious and trying times over the past decade. Probably the most important was NOT dying at the age of 22 due to a catastrophic motorcycle accident…..and the sudden death of my mother at 29. I’m hoping for a little luck, love and positivity for the next ten….

Here are some good things that did come out of the 2000’s.

-I was the first of the grandchildren (mom’s side) to graduate college
-I traveled and lived throughout the U.S.
-I made it back to my beloved NYC
-I’ve seen many beautiful sunrises and sunsets
-I’ve made MANY wonderful friends
-Music still remains a huge part of my life

Not too shabby……
